A 9 Day Uganda Kenya Safari is a great way to experience the best of both countries, with a mix of wildlife, culture, and scenery. You will have the opportunity to see the mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, the big cats and the wildebeest migration in Masai Mara National Reserve, and the elephants and the flamingos in Amboseli National Park and Lake Nakuru National Park. You will also enjoy the boat cruises, the cultural tours, and the scenic drives along the way.

Your safari will start in Uganda, where you will fly from Entebbe to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most biodiverse and beautiful national parks in Uganda. You will trek the gorillas in the forest, and spend an hour with these majestic creatures, watching them feed, play, groom, and communicate with each other. You will also learn about their behavior, ecology, and conservation from your guide.

Your safari will continue in Kenya, where you will fly from Entebbe to Nairobi, and then drive to Masai Mara National Reserve, one of the most famous and popular safari destinations in Africa, and home to the annual wildebeest migration, which is one of the greatest wildlife spectacles on earth. You will enjoy game drives in the reserve, and look for the predators, especially the lions, leopards, cheetahs, and hyenas. Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Kenya

After landing at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, your driver guide will greet you and take you to your hotel in Nairobi. You can relax and make use of the hotel amenities, or venture out and discover the city on your own.

Day 2Transfer to Lake Nakuru National Park

You will drive to Lake Nakuru National Park after breakfast. It takes about three hours to get there from Nairobi. Lake Nakuru is a soda lake in the Rift Valley, and it is famous for its large population of flamingos and other water birds. You can also see many kinds of wildlife in the park, such as rhinos, lions, leopards, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, and antelopes. You will enjoy a game drive around the lake and the park, and admire the beautiful scenery and the animals. You will spend the night at Safari Lodge or Hotel near the Park.

Day 3Transfer to Masaai Mara National Reserve + Game Drive

You will drive to Maasai Mara National Reserve after having breakfast at Lake Nakuru. The journey will take about five hours.
Maasai Mara is a renowned and popular safari destination in Africa. It hosts the annual wildebeest migration, which is an amazing sight of millions of animals on the move. The reserve also has a rich and diverse wildlife population, including big cats, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, gazelles, and many others.
In the afternoon, you will go on a game drive in the reserve and try to spot the predators and their prey.
You will spend the night at a nearby Safari Lodge or a modern tourist camp.

Day 4Full Day n Masaai Mara + Game Viewing + Bush Picnic lunch

After breakfast, enjoy a full day of game viewing in the reserve, with a picnic lunch in the bush. Explore the different areas of the reserve, such as the Mara River, the Talek River, the Musiara Swamp, and the Mara Triangle, and see the different wildlife and birds that inhabit them. You can also opt for a balloon safari, which is an optional activity that offers a bird’s eye view of the reserve and the wildlife. The balloon safari includes a champagne breakfast and a certificate of flight. In the evening, you can visit a Maasai village, which is another optional activity that gives you a chance to learn about the culture and lifestyle of the Maasai people, who are the traditional inhabitants of the area. You can also participate in their dances and ceremonies, and buy some of their crafts and souvenirs.

Day 5Air transfer from Maasai Mara to Entebbe + Road transfer from Entebbe to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast, drive to the airstrip and catch a flight to Entebbe, Uganda, which is about 2 hours away in a Cessna Grand Caravan aircraft.

Upon arrival in Entebbe, you will be met by your driver guide and transferred to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, which is about 8 hours away by road.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most biodiverse and beautiful national parks in Uganda. It covers an area of 321 square kilometers (124 square miles) of both montane and lowland forest, and is home to over 120 species of mammals, 350 species of birds, and 220 species of butterflies.

The park is renowned for its exceptional biodiversity and is a sanctuary for colobus monkeys, chimpanzees, and many birds such as hornbills and turacos. It is most notable for the 400 Bwindi gorillas, half of the world’s population of the endangered mountain gorillas.

Upon Arrival, check into your Safari lodge, relax, refresh, have your dinner and overnight.

Day 6Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After an early breakfast, drive to the park headquarters, where you will meet your guide and join a group of up to 8 people for the gorilla trekking. You will be briefed on the rules and regulations of the trekking, such as keeping a distance of 7 meters from the gorillas, not using flash photography, and not eating or drinking in front of them.

You will then enter the forest and follow the trails and the sounds of the gorillas, which can be heard from a distance. The trekking can be challenging, as it involves hiking through steep and muddy terrain, sometimes for several hours, depending on the location of the gorillas. However, the reward is well worth the effort, as you get to spend an hour with them and observe their behavior and interactions. You will be amazed by their intelligence and personality, and learn more about their behavior and ecology from your guide.

You will return to the park headquarters and drive back to your lodge for lunch and relaxation.

In the afternoon, you can opt for a nature walk in the forest, which is another optional activity that gives you a chance to see more of the flora and fauna of the park, such as monkeys, birds, butterflies, and plants. You can also visit the Batwa community, which is another optional activity that gives you a chance to learn about the culture and history of the Batwa people, who are the original inhabitants of the forest. You can also participate in their dances and ceremonies, and buy some of their crafts and souvenirs.

Return to your Safari Lodge before dark to refresh and relax from the day’s activities.

Day 7Transfer from Bwindi to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Start your day with a delicious breakfast, then head to Queen Elizabeth National Park, a four-hour drive from Bwindi. Queen Elizabeth National Park is a diverse and popular destination in western Uganda, along the Rift Valley. It boasts over 95 mammal species and 600 bird species, as well as a variety of ecosystems, such as savannah, forest, wetland, and lake. You can also admire the park’s volcanic features, such as the crater lakes, the salt lakes, and the hot springs. Explore the park on a game drive, and spot the wildlife and birds that live there, such as lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, and many more. 

Day 8Explore Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast, enjoy a morning game drive in the park, and explore the different areas of the park, such as the Kasenyi plains, the Mweya peninsula, and the Ishasha sector. You will have a chance to see more wildlife and birds in the park, as well as the scenic views of the savannah and the lakes.

In the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, which is a natural waterway that connects Lake Edward and Lake George, which are two of the major lakes in the park. The channel is one of the most biodiverse and productive water bodies in the world, with over 60 mammal species and 550 bird species, as well as fish and reptiles.

The channel is especially famous for its large concentration of hippos, which are estimated to be over 4,000 in number. The channel is also home to other animals and birds, such as crocodiles, buffaloes, elephants, antelopes, pelicans, flamingos, kingfishers, and many more. 

After enjoying the Sunset cruise on Kazinga Channel, you shall head back to your Safari Lodge for a campfire session while enjoying traditional Batwa people folk dances, poems and songs.

Day 9Transfer to Entebbe International Airport with a stop over at the Igongo Cultural Museum

Wake up to the beautiful sounds of Ugandan birds, have your breakfast and say your good-byes to the friendly Safari lodge staff and thereafter check-out and embark on a drive back to Entebbe International Airport with a stopover at the Igongo Cultural Center for a guided tour and perhaps visit a craft shop to hunt for souvenirs before proceeding to the Airport in time for your flight home or to your next destination, we look forward to hosting you.
