Early MorningÂ
An early breakfast will be followed by a transfer to Kibale National Park. On the way, you will experience beautiful scenery as you drive through the farmlands and tea estates leading you to the home of chimps in Kibale NP. Arrive at Chimpanzee Forest Lodge or similar for your overnight stay.
The chimpanzee trekking safari in Uganda is a unique opportunity that will allow you to follow a chimpanzee group in its daily activities. Accompanying Kibale researchers and rangers, you will be on the forest floor to watch the chimps search for fruits and to hear them communicate. You will observe them for an hour, learning about their behavior.
It is an initiative of the Uganda Wildlife Authority to trek the chimpanzees without changing their natural environment. It’s one of the great moments of your safari!
In the afternoon, do the community and swamp walk offered by members of the Bigodi community to learn about the traditional culture of Africa. Return to Chimpanzee Forest Lodge or similar for your overnight stay.
A leisurely breakfast will be followed by a transfer to Bwindi or Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, the home of the mountain gorillas. They inhabit the Bwindi Forest National Park in Uganda and the Virunga Volcanoes that stretch across the borders of Uganda, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The drive has great views of farmlands in Ankole, rolling hills in Kigezi and the great Virunga Mountains as you’re approaching the park. Arrive at Rushaga Gorilla Camp or similar for your overnight stay.
After an early breakfast, transfer to the ranger station for the gorilla trekking briefing on thedos and don’ts when interacting with the gorillas. You will be accompanied by a senior ranger guide for your hike into the forest in search of the gorillas. Once you find them, you usually have an hour to sit and observe them from a distance of 10 meters.
After the experience, you will transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for your overnight stay at Arcadia Cottages.
After an early breakfast, you will return to Kampala, marking the end of your 5-day chimpanzee and gorilla trekking safari in Uganda. Your guide will drop you off at your hotel in Kampala, Entebbe or at the airport for your flight home.
