Entebbe International Airport, Uganda
Pickup on Arrival at Entebbe International Airport
Your guide will receive you at Entebbe International Airport and transfer you to your hotel for overnight stay. Spend the rest of the day recovering from the jetlag and prepare for a road trip the following morning. Enjoy the cozy and peaceful environs of Entebbe, the former capital of the British Protectorate of Uganda
After breakfast, start your road trip to Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will have a stop at the Equator for a chance to stand in the ‘middle’ of the world. Don’t miss the magical demonstration that shows the variation in the direction of water flow at the Equator, a few degrees north and a few degrees south. Continue the drive, and break for lunch at Igongo Cultural Centre; you will also have the occasion to visit a museum that comprises of traditional items of the indigenous communities while at Igongo. Proceed through Ankole farmlands to finally access Queen Elizabeth National Park via Katungulu gate. The descent divulges the panoramic beauty of the park dotted with trees, crater lakes, and lakes George and Edward. Take your introductory game-drive and finally end your day at your lodge for overnight stay.
Wake-up to the sound of nature, get on board and embark on a sunrise game-drive. Look out for lions, leopards, elephants, warthogs, bushbucks, cape buffaloes and waterbucks among others. Big or small, you can always count on these guys to put on a show for you. We shall utilize a network of trails and coordinate with other guides to ensure that nothing goes unnoticed.
After lunch, transfer to the pier/dock for your afternoon boat-ride on Kazinga Channel. The boat cruise on Kazinga, a thread of water that joins lakes George and Edward, is simply breathtaking. The channel is both home and playgrounds for the Nile Crocodiles, and it arguably has the highest concentration of Hippos on the planet. You will also see elephants, buffaloes, African Fish Eagle, Goliath Herons, Saddle-billed Storks, Egyptian Geese, different species of Egrets, and many other animals on Kazinga shores.
Have a very early breakfast and check-out. Join your driver/guide, transfer to Kyambura Gorge and track chimpanzees. Chimpanzees, man’s closest cousin, live and wander in this underground forest. Trekking them here involves descending and ascending on the banks of the gorge. Apart from chimpanzees, Kyambura Gorge is a hotspot for greater and lesser flamingos as well as the great Egret.
Return to the staging area where you will join your driver and exit the park through Kabatooro gate, and drive towards Entebbe.
Drop off at the airport or your preferred address. We wish you a safe journey and hope to see you again soon.
