American zoologist George Schaller, one of the first people to study gorillas in the wild, once said: “No one who looks into the eyes of a Gorilla, gentle and vulnerable, can remain unchanged.” Well, before having a close view of these gentle giants, your journey will take you across central Uganda through the tropical landscape with a lot of green, a bit of savannah to the highlands of the south west in an area nick-named the “Switzerland of Africa”.

Your guide will pick you up from Airport Guest House in Entebbe to commence your drive to the UNESCO World Heritage Site that is Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. You can make a stop at the Equator Crossing at Kayabwe for some fun pictures, refreshment or ignore that for when you return. You will continue your safari with a stop in Mbarara town for quick lunch. After lunch, you will continue onto Bwindi Impenetrable National Park/ Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. Where you safari to depends on where we have secured your gorilla permits. Once in Bwindi or Mgahinga, you will check-in at Engagi Bwindi Lodge or Similar for dinner and overnight stay.
Be up at 5.00am and enjoy early breakfast. After your breakfast, be ready for the 2-hour drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park – arriving at 7.30am. With packed lunch in your carry-on, your guide will deliver you to the park’s HQ before 8:00 am for registration and a briefing. The guides will then take you through the bush, pushing your way through the undergrowth, parting creepers, to track the gorillas. When you finally locate the family that you are tracking, sit in the forest among the gorillas, listening to them grumble to each other, and marvel at the sheer size of the dominant male – the silverback. It is an extraordinary feeling sitting in the dense forest in the knowledge you are in the presence of the few remaining Mountain Gorillas in the wild. After the mandatory 1 hour is up, you will be led back to the starting point where your guide will be waiting to commence the transfer to the picturesque Lake Bunyonyi. On arrival, check-in at Birdnest Resort Bunyonyi.

Where you stop depends on how well you are doing as far as time is concerned. After lunch, you will continue on to Entebbe and complete your transfer to the airport in time for you to check-in for your flight back home.
