Day 1 of our birdwatching journey begins with an enchanting arrival in the serene town of Entebbe, cradled by the majestic Lake Victoria. Our first day is marked by a soothing transition into the realm of avian wonders, as we settle into our cozy retreat. With the first light of dawn, we indulge in a hearty breakfast, fueling our anticipation for the day’s quest.
The Mabamba Swamp beckons us with its verdant embrace, a haven for the avid bird enthusiast. Here, we embark on a Shoebill Boat Tour, gliding through the swamp’s intricate network of waterways. Guided by an expert in birding, we delve into the heart of this wetland sanctuary. Our eyes are set on the horizon, searching for the Shoebill Stork, a creature of ancient allure and enigmatic beauty.
Amidst the whispers of reeds and lilies, we are graced by the presence of the Shoebill Stork. Its solitary figure stands as a sentinel of the swamp, its gaze piercing through the morning mist. We capture this moment, immortalizing it through our lenses, as we float in silent reverence of this avian marvel.

Have an early breakfast and begin your early morning with an invigorating visit to the Entebbe Botanical Gardens, as you meander through the verdant pathways, you will notice that the air is alive with the melodious calls and chirps of various bird species. The gardens are a haven for birdlife, and you will be particularly enchanted by the vibrant sunbirds and industrious weavers going about their day.
Early Lunch:
Midday brings a pause to our explorations, and we indulged in a sumptuous meal at a quaint local eatery. The cuisine and flavors of the region are as rich and varied as the avian life that is observed.
Afternoon:
Your afternoon will be dedicated to a more hands-on experience as we engage in bird monitoring activities alongside local conservationists and researchers whose passion for avian protection is infectious, offering a great deal of knowledge about ongoing efforts to safeguard these winged wonders. You will feal a profound connection to the conservation work being done as you participate in data collection and observation.
Evening:
Alongside your tour guide and other tour group members, you shall gather to reflect on the experiences of the day as you share stories of the birds you have seen, the data you have collected and the knowledge you have gained. Your Day 2 will end in the evening packed with shared passions and newfound friendships that are underlined by our collective commitment to avian conservation.

Early Morning:
Wake up to an early breakfast and start the day with an air of excitement as we transfer you to the unique Ngamba Chimpanzee Island sanctuary via boat cruise from the UWEC jetty as we glide over the calm waters towards the sanctuary of our closest relatives, the chimpanzees. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the sight of these magnificent creatures during their feeding time, which is one of the best times to observe Chimpanzee behaviors and interactions. This humbling experience shall remind you of the thin line that separates Mankind from Chimpanzees.
The island also offers more than just chimpanzees; You will see monitor lizards scuttled along the pathways coupled with the calls and chirps of various bird species, providing ample photographic opportunities for nature enthusiasts.
Early Afternoon:
After the enriching experience at Ngamba Island, we return to UWEC for a guided tour. The center’s commitment to wildlife conservation is evident in every exhibit we shall explore as we delve deeper into the world of Uganda’s fauna, discovering bird species that up until this point were just names in a field guide.

Your meal will be delightful affair at UWEC, where you will dine amidst the sounds of nature as you discuss your morning adventures and the knowledge gained from our observant guides.
Late Afternoon to Evening:
As the day winds down, it shall be time to bid farewell to Entebbe and we transfer you to Entebbe International Airport. Be sure to reflect on the memories made and the insights gained into Uganda’s rich biodiversity If you choose to extend your stay, brace yourself for more adventures and encounters with Uganda’s feathered and furry inhabitants.
