Our exciting adventure will take you to Mgahinga National Park in south western Uganda, this park is relatively smaller in size compared to other National Parks, However, Mgahinga National Park is the only park in Uganda where mountain gorillas co-exist with Golden monkeys hence the saying that this is where “Gold meets silver”. This 3 Day Mgahinga gorilla tracking safari is suitable for those who may not have enough time at their disposal but want to track mountain gorillas. Our 3 Day Gorilla tracking safari starts and ends in Entebbe with a cross country drive comprised of stop overs at the equator crossing amidst breath taking views of the beautiful country side, so make sure your cameras are ready as there are several photogenic moments during the entire Safari.
Day 1:
Morning
Start your 3 Day Mgahinga gorilla tracking Safari
Our Tour Driver shall pick you up from your overnight hotel in Entebbe or Kampala and brief you about your trip, (We offer Pick-ups from Entebbe Airport, your Hotel, or any other collection point agreed upon by the guest(s) and our tour manager) make sure that you have all the necessary gear and paper work including identification that matches with the names used for Gorilla Tracking Permit booking. (Gorilla Tracking Permits are a MUST for any one who wishes to visit these Creatures in the wild and Early Booking is crucial for convenience and authorization purposes.)
We shall then drive you to Mgahinga National Park in southwestern Uganda with stopovers at Mpambire royal drum makers to witness how drums are made from animal hide and wood and the Equator Crossing site for photo moments.
After you have taken enough photos at the Equator Crossing point and witnessing the polar experiment, the driver will set off our next destination which is Mbarara town where we shall have Lunch and a tour of The Igongo Cultural Centre.
As we embark on ourtake a scenic drive to Kisoro district starting with the flat lands of Ntungamo, and the rolling hills of Kabale to terraced hills and meandering roads to Kisoro District. You will arrive
in time for relaxation, dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 2:
Gorilla trekking in Mgahinga
After an early breakfast, our driver will drive you to Mgahinga National Park headquarters arriving in time for briefing. Before briefing, your passport/ identification details will be required to make sure that you that your Gorilla Permits are legitimate. This will be followed by briefing from one of the Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers about gorilla tracking dos and don’ts as well as important pointers about the tracking experience and there after we will then be led to the forest to search for the mountain gorillas.
Mgahinga Gorilla National Park has only one habituated mountain gorilla family called Nyakagezi which used to move between Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park and Mgahinga National Park but it is now
permanently resident in Uganda.
Once you find Nyakagezi Family, you will be allowed one hour with the gorillas and then return back to the Lodge for your overnight.
Day 3:
Drive back to Kampala/Entebbe International Airport
After breakfast, you will be driven back to Kampala or Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight and say your good byes as our great adventure comes to an end at this point.
