Entebbe International Airport
Pick up upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport
We drive to the Queen Elizabeth National park, located in Western Uganda. Make a stop at the Equator for photo shoots with one leg in the southern hemisphere and the other in the northern hemisphere. You can also perform water experiments to justify the geographical divide between the two hemispheres. There are craft centers at the site where you can get yourself a souvenir as remembrance of your safari in Uganda. Another stop is made at the Igongo Cultural Center 12km and to Mbarara town for lunch. Here, you are served organically grown and freshly prepared African cuisine at the famous Byamungu restaurant literally translated as “its all for God”. Proceed driving to arrive in Queen Elizabeth National Park in the evening for relaxation dinner and overnight.
Embark on the exciting game drive encounter at 7am after the breakfast to the area where a range of wild game might be encountered including the elephants, water bucks, Uganda Kobs, Buffaloes, Lions, Spotted Hyenas, leopards, Bushbucks among other species. You’ll also get a chance to see other things like the birds such as Palm-nut Vulture, African White-backed Vulture, Hooded Vulture, Ruppell’s Griffon Vulture, among others. Have lunch and head to Mweya penisular for an afternoon boat cruise. The boat encounter on what has been termed the Paradise of hippos features impressive sights of Hippos and Nile crocodiles, birds like the African skimmer, Yellow billed stork and Kingfishers. The wild game can also be encountered during on the channel side. Retreat from the 2 hour activity and do a game drive along the channel track as you connect back to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.
We save the best for last (Chimps). Wake up for breakfast after which we say goodbye to Queen Elizabeth National Park and head to Kalinzu Forest Reserve for your Chimpanzee trekking experience in this magical, lush and mature tropical forest thriving below sea level and supporting countless chimpanzees. The eventual encounter with the chimpanzees as they munch fruits, make pant hooting calls, socialize, patrol, copulate and roll themselves in tree branches shall be engraved in your memory and will last for a life time. Retreat from the Chimp encounter which tends to take 2 – 5 hours and embark on a transfer back to the Entebbe International Airport for your departing flight.
