Lake Mburo National Park is located in Western Uganda. It is situated 30 kilometers east of Mbarara city, the largest city in the sub-region. Lake Mburo National Park is made up of a variety of ecosystems including lakes wetlands, open grasslands, forests and woodlands that support high biodiversity. The park is home to 68 mammal species including zebras, impala, buffaloes, hippos and crocodiles, and is home to over three hundred (300) bird species making this park a paradise for birding enthusiasts.
It is the only place in Uganda that supports massive herds of “impalas” and it is from the word impala that Kampala city derives its name. Other antelopes easily seen are topi, bushbuck, common duiker, oribi, Defassa waterbuck and Bofor reedbuck. Buffalos, warthogs, bush-pigs, hippos and many others. Tour Activities
Our company driver/guide will meet and pick you up from Entebbe International Airport or from your hotel (or any other location agreed upon) by 7 am for your transfer to Lake Mburo National Park, Be sure to soak in the amazing views of the Ugandan Country side and remember to carry your Camera since there shall be many photo opportunities as we pass by African roadside fruit markets, massive Banana plantations, Roadside Nyama Choma vendors, Cultural sites, Ankole long horned Cattle among many other wonderful features.
As soon as we reach the park and check in, we shall head straight for a game drive of the park for our encounter with the vast variety of animals and birds which seem to know that we are here to see them as they will go about their hunting, foraging, resting on tree tops, mating and all the things wild animals do.
On this 3 hour game drive we shall be led around by Uganda Wildlife Authority Guide who knows the best places within the park where we shall have fabulous views of Buffaloes, Zebras, Leopards, a variety of antelopes, and warthogs.
Our next activity shall be a refreshing boat ride where we shall witness wild animals of different species converge on water holes for their refreshment. Predators usually use this moment to prey on other animals that always turn up in big numbers for a quenching gallop of water. (There are 5 lakes within the park) Be sure to spot crocodiles, lots of hippos and a variety of birds. This is surely the highlight of your trip.
After enjoying the wonderful boat ride, we shall say our goodbyes to the park’s friendly staff and then set off for your transfer back to Kampala/ Entebbe Airport (Or any other place that you may wish to be transferred to) as we drive through a magnificent hilly country and lush cultivation, we will stop over at the Equator Crossing for photographs and ‘polar-water experiment’, then a local community popular for making local drums (Mpambire Village), gardens, crafts shops and fruit markets.
